I look forward to fall.
I spend summer wondering why everyone goes on and on about how much they love summer but then spend most of it in air-conditioned rooms. I cast longing glances at my knitting (it’s too hot to get much done) and dwell on the coziness that summer lacks. When it gets too much, I reach for movies (Dead Poets Society is a favourite) and my stash of Victoria magazines. I visit my neglected bakeware and consider recipes that involve ginger and cinnamon.
When fall finally arrives, I’m ready for it.
This time round I have the added pleasure of taking classes at Emily Carr, and have been taking the wee little aqua bus from Yaletown to Granville Island twice a week. The walk from my home to the dock is short, but it’s wonderful, and I’ve been leaving a little early just so I can sit there and watch the gulls and loons as they go about their waterfowl business.
It does make for sleepy mornings, but it’s a good kind of tired, the tired that comes from spending my evening hours at school, learning something that fascinates me.
Is there anything you do in the fall that you look forward to all year?

Ah, this is a delicious post! Just now, we are getting a MUCH needed fall rain. It’s been hot in the Midwest. We set a heat record yesterday – 95. I’m SO ready for fall! It’s like a sweet breath from the universe.

I love getting out all my cozy sweaters and wrapping myself in cashmere for long walks in the fall sunshine with MAggie

I look forward to getting to wear layers again and pulling out my beloved winter coats/scarves/etc. Oh, and any reason to wear my boots is a good reason.
In terms of activities I’d have to say bike riding….and needling my family members into knitting me scarves and hats and mitts and things.
