Monday Morning Love List, #46

Love – That I found the perfect ginger snap cookie recipe.

Not So Much – That I won’t be able to enjoy making the ginger snaps until this weekend, after I’ve sent my latest project to the printers. I know it’s not even a blip in the grand scheme of things, but I really was hoping to do some baking early on in the week.

Love – That Her Highness (aka Cleo) has a new ‘toy’ which directly translates into some much needed exercise for her tubby butt play time. The toy? A vanilla-coloured ribbon stolen from one of my padded hangers. When she’s not actively playing with it she likes stroking it with her paws – what a princess!

Love – That Lunchtruck’s parents are back from England. I missed them. Have I mentioned I’m one of the lucky few who absolutely adores her in-laws? Yeah. Be jealous 🙂

Not So Much – The brioche stitch sweater saga continues. I added on a good 4 – 5 inches to it this weekend, but I still feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I may need to set it aside for a while and work on something else just to get my knitting confidence back.

Love – The possibilities a fresh week provides.

Monday Morning Love List #45

Love – That our quiet little home is inching towards a more festive feel. True, so far there’s only a naked tree and some lights round the window, but the promise of more decorations to come is what’s putting a smile on my face.

Love – That some of the dogs in my building are also into the festivities. I’ve seen bandanas, hats, coats and, my personal favourite – a flashing collar with red and green led lights.

Love – That a friend recently directed me to a website chockful of crock pot recipes. I’ve got a short list of recipes to try – now on with the cooking!

Love – That no more school has translated directly into some much needed lap-time for the kitties. Her Highness has been most vocal about her lack of snuggle time…

Not So Much – I’ve had to frog a part of my sweetie’s brioche stitch sweater, twice this past week. Argh.

Not So Much – That our vacation time was a bit of a bust – we’d planned to spend the time on day trips and some much needed time together, but illness (the Yowler’s) and a few unforeseen circumstances led to less fun than we’d hoped for. For the sake of our sanity, we’re going away for all vacations from now on.

Love – That even through the towering frustration that was our vacation, I still caught myself watching my sweetie and thinking how glad I am that he shares my life. It seems that all of this still applies.

Love – As part of the much-needed clean-up of our apartment, I gathered my yarn stash and tucked it all away in the bottom of my chest of drawers. Seeing it all in one place has inspired me to get on with a couple of projects that I’ve been stalling on, AND to add a little something cozy and colourful for future inspiration. I’m not really the type to buy for the sake of buying (not much in the way of storage space at our place!) but knowing that I have a little bit of space in that drawer for a few specially chosen skeins, such as the Alchemy Yarn my sweetie fell for the last time we visited Urban Yarn is too much to resist. It might be time to compile a wishlist.

Love – This lovely gem that fell into my email today: “In the hope of reaching the moon men fail to see the flowers that blossom at their feet.” [Thank you Albert Schweitzer]. This past week has reminded me that I need to spend more time feeling grateful, and this line states it in a much kinder and gentler way than I probably deserve.

Tuesday Morning Love List: The Blogger Beta Version

Those of you who read this regularly know I’ve been a little spotty on the Monday Morning Love List lately – #41 is overdue. This is NOT because I’m not loving things (far from it!) but because I’ve been a busy chica and haven’t had the brain cells available to put it all together. Apologies. They will both eventually be back on a steady basis.

Now on to this week’s version which is all about blogger beta. I’ve been using it for the past 2 weeks.

– That the move was relatively painless.
– That there are many more template options and automated template customization options.
– That the page elements are laughably easy to maneuvre.
– That anyone with a bit of html knowledge can tweak the page elements/widgets even further (I haven’t had time, but I will eventually tweak).
– That the preview page does not show you a larger-sized font preview – it shows you what you’ll get.
– That saving is almost instantaneous.
– That you can see how many comments you’ve received on your posts while in the posting tab.

Not so Much
– That I can’t post on a non-beta blog, so when dealing with blogger blogs, I get to click on the comment button and hope that they’ve not restricted access to just blogger people. Yes, Blogger knows about this and is working towards a solution.
– That I did have to spend a bit of time re-ordering and re-entering my links, but that’s because I don’t use blogroll.

So there you have it.

A non-blogger related love? I used a lovely Canon EF 20 – 35 f/2.8 lens on the weekend and was very pleased with the results. I’ll post a few pics later this week.

Monday Tuesday Morning Love List, #39

Love – That taking the time to write this list has an immediate effect on my happiness meter. The process reminds me of all the good things in my world, and since I seem to be über crabby lately, I NEED the reminder.

Love – The goofiness the Duck Project is inspiring in my world. I’ve yet to spend a chunk of time in front of the computer sorting through the photos and posting them, but hope to do that this week. She’s been a great ice breaker (which I hadn’t expected) and acts as a little squishy yellow reminder to not take myself too seriously. Am I having fun with this project? You bet!

Love – Free movie passes. Lunchtruck won tix to the preview showing of Clerks II, so that’s where I’ll be Thursday.

Love – Despite the fact that I’ve had some issues with the stitch on my sweetie’s sweater, the work IS progressing. I may have the sweater done ahead of schedule, which makes me happy. If I haven’t mentionedi t yet this week, Addi Turbo needles rawk.

Love – Went to the Minter Gardens Concours Classic on the weekend and got a double whammy of good – time with my honey and in-laws, AND time spent shooting the sights with my beloved digital Canon.

Love – The possibilities a fresh week provides.

Love – All the amazing people who’ve visited and left comments this past week.
